Report Card Criteria


Language Arts

Students will:

  • Identify and use nouns, verbs, and adjectives (describing words).
  • Use proper capitalization and punctuation (periods, question marks, exclamation marks, commas, apostrophes, and an introduction to quotation marks).
  • Be able to write a complete sentence.
  • Learn how to identify and write a complete paragraph (We will introduce narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive writing).
  • Listen attentively.
  • Speak in front of a group.
  • Be introduced to cursive writing
  • Reading

    Students will:

  • Learn to read with understanding and fluency.
  • Learn effective reading strategies.
  • Read and understand a variety of literature.
  • Spelling& Phonics

    Students will identify and use:

  • Short and long vowels
  • Compound words
  • Blends (r, l, and s, i.e. frog)
  • Digraphs (sh, th, wh, ch, ck, kn)
  • Contractions
  • Vowel pairs (ou, ow, oi, oy, ew)
  • Synonyms and Antonyms
  • Math

    Students will:

  • Be able to add and subtract 2 and 3 digit numbers.
  • Identify place values (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands).
  • Be able to count coins.
  • Be able to tell time to the nearest minute.
  • Use regrouping (carrying and borrowing) to add or subtract 2 and 3 digit numbers.
  • Use measuring devices.
  • Identify fractions and shapes.
  • Be introduced to problem solving strategies.
  • Be introduced to multiplication and division
  • Science

    Students will learn about:

  • Rocks and Soil
  • Living Things (plants animals)
  • Balance and Motion
  • Energy
  • Staying Healthy
  • Social Studies

    Students will learn about:

  • Reading and Using Maps
